HOW TO CLEAN THE INSIDE OF A BONG
To clean a glass bong or dab rig, you will need the followings
- isopropyl alcohol
- cotton balls
- Q-tips or toothbrush
- hand towels
- small Ziploc bags
- hot water
- Tupperware containers
STEP 1- GET RID OF THE DIRTY BONG WATER
The dirty water from a bong comes with a pungent smell. So ensure to empty it before you do anything else. When draining the dirty bong water, make sure it doesn’t touch your body since the liquid is toxic.
STEP 2- TAKE YOUR BONG APART
Detach the bong bowl and the stem from the glass bong and avoid breakage. Bongs are usually composed of several detachable glass pieces, so ensure to disassemble the entire bong for successful cleaning.
STEP 3- CLEAN ALL THE PIECES WITH HOT WATER
Begin cleaning the different detached parts, making sure that you have a constant flow of hot water because it helps in the removal of sticky dirt that refuses to go out of your water bong. Warm water is all right, but hot water is better to remove the oils from herbs. If you decide to use boiling water, you have to be careful and don’t get burned. You might hurt your hand but also your glass bong if you drop it. Let’s be super careful!
STEP 4- PLACE EVERY LOOSE PIECE IN ITS CONTAINER
Place the detached pieces in separate containers to remember where each piece lies. After that use alcohol and salt solution as a detergent to clean the parts.
STEP 5- SHAKE
Shake the sealed Tupperware container after adding a tablespoon of salt and alcohol. The isopropyl alcohol and the salt penetrate the smallest holes and remove the sticky residue caused by excess marijuana smoking. The rubbing alcohol and coarse salt can work fast if you shake it rapidly. Increase the amount of alcohol and salt if you feel that it will become more active, remember that the dirtier your pieces are, the more alcohol and salt will need to be added.
After rapidly shaking the pieces, they will become clean, place them somewhere safe before moving to the next step.
STEP 6- ADD SALT AND ALCOHOL INTO YOUR BONG
The larger the bong, the more salt and alcohol you will need to add. The purpose of the salt and alcohol is to make the solution very corrosive and effective. Correct measurement of salt and rubbing alcohol will be a significant factor in cleaning your bong.
STEP 7- COVER ALL THE OPEN SPOTS AND SHAKE CONTINUOUSLY
Cover all the holes in your bong using hand towels, cotton balls or any tool you think can be used to cover gaps. People who lack hand towels or cotton ball should preferably use pieces of plastic bags and rubber bands to cover the joint and mouthpiece. After you cover them, just shake, shake and shake! Don’t drop your bong during shaking. Also, don’t hit it anywhere because you don’t want to damage your glass bong!
STEP 8- RINSE ALL THE TOOLS USING HOT WATER
After constant shaking, empty all the alcohol and salt from your bong, then remove the small pieces from the Tupperware container. A continuous flow of hot water is needed to clean both the bong and the little pieces correctly.
Then rinse your bong with hot water to dilute the isopropyl alcohol, salt, and sticky residue. Use a Q-tip or toothbrush to remove leftover dirt. After that keep the pieces in the open air so that they can dry. If your glass bongs have water stains inside after it gets dried, you can use vinegar with a cloth to take the stains out. Now your bong is like a brand new!
